headspace is a confidential & FREE service where young people aged 12-25 can access a range of services. We offer a mixture of in-person catch-ups and phone and videocall services so that young people can access the supports they need. headspace Swan Hill is a disability friendly building. Public transport options within Swan Hill make the centre easily accessible... the local bus stops just around the corner on High St.

headspace Swan Hill is operated by Swan Hill District Health. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Murray (Murray PHN).

Services

Nutrition screening, dietary assessment and education about food and lifestyle, also support around healthy eating strategies.

Get tips on how to prepare your resume and present for interviews. Find out about local employment opportunities (full time, part-time, or casual).

Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.

Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug concern.

Support and assistance finding accommodation or related support services.

If you live near our headspace centre in a rural area but cannot travel in to see us, you can see our mental health workers online.

Sexual health screenings on site or links to local services. 

A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.

headspace Swan Hill is looking for a vibrant individual to join their team.

The primary role of the Administration Support Officer is to provide reception and administrative support to members of the headspace team in order to facilitate a high level of care for young people, their friends and families. The Administration Support Officer works to provide youth friendly, professional and confidential administration services to support effective service delivery and the day-to-day functioning of headspace.

The successful applicant will be essential to ensuring that headspace is perceived by young people as friendly, accessible and welcoming.

This is a Casual position with option for Permanent Part-Time from July 2024 to August 2025. The successful applicant will work between the hours of 9.30am-6.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am-5.00pm on Friday’s.

The primary role of the Mental Health Clinician/Counsellor is to work within a multidisciplinary team providing early intervention mental health support to young people aged 12-25 years at headspace. Applications for this position are invited from Social Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and other relevant disciplines.

This position will deliver evidence-based short-term psychological interventions to young people with mild to moderate mental health issues. These services will be guided by the clinical staging model for early intervention youth mental health services. This will include conducting assessments and developing care plans in conjunction with the young person and identified family, friends and professionals. These roles will also include care coordination support to young people, facilitation of groups, and community engagement work.

The Mental Health Clinician/Counsellor staff will collaborate with other staff and agencies to ensure a holistic approach to the young person’s care. 

This position is contracted until 30 June 2025. (ongoing employment may be available at the end of the fixed-term dependent on program funding). 

Applicants may also be eligible for Retention and Relocation Support (see the Position Description for more information). Benefits of the role also include the provision of supervision in addition to the salary for psychologists and provisional psychologists.

At headspace Swan Hill we are committed to providing the best care, as close to home as possible. To support this, we have introduced the possibility of videocalls as an option. Using telehealth, you can have an appointment with your headspace Swan Hill worker by using our videocall platform or telephone. You can do this from your home, at your school, local health service or any location with a reliable telephone or internet connection.

These appointments will only be available where suitable and must be requested and booked in advance.

For almost all services at headspace Swan Hill, you do not need a medicare card. 

If you need to see our GP, you will need to have access to medicare. Please note: even if you don't have access to a medicare card, please contact us and we will assist where possible. 

Many young people are listed on a parent's medicare card, and we can look up your medicare number without needing the physical card.

For young people aged 15 and above, you can apply for your own medicare card if you want to.

Fill out the Medicare application form and return this form with ID (such as your birth certificate or student ID) to the medicare service centre.

Our local medicare service centre is in the same building as Centrelink at 221 Beveridge St, Swan Hill VIC 3585.
