headspace Southport is operated by Lives Lived Well. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Gold Coast (Primary Care Gold Coast Ltd).
Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.

Centres have a range of programs and activities for young people. Just ask your centre what they have on.
GPs can help with any physical health issues as well as issues related to sexual health, drug or alcohol use, relationship problems or feeling down or upset. Your centre may have a GP on site or links to one locally.

headspace Southport is accessible for people who use a wheelchair and/or have restricted movement. Our centre has lift access from Nind street, which has a loading zone outside that can be used for drop off and collection or metered parking (standard size).
headspace Southport has an adapted toilet available for people who use a wheelchair and/or have restricted movement. All toilets are gender neutral.
headspace Southport can be reached via the Gold Coast public transport network (Trans Link). Buses can be caught across the Gold Coast that will stop at the near-by central hub at Australia Fair Shopping Complex, Southport. It is roughly a 800m walk (15mins) to the centre. Trams can also be caught that complete their journey at the Southport Station, Southport (outside of the Southport District Courthouse). It is roughly a 500m walk (8mins). Free Parking is offered for you convenience, up to four hours. Enter via Welch Street (as pictured below) into the H2O Building circular entrance (think roundabout).
Turn left into the underground parking and drive up the first ramp to the next level. Here are the allocated bays marked Visitor's Parking Only. Please only park in these bays. Please note: If you park in other bays, you will be at risk of being towed by H2O Building Personnel.
At headspace Southport we understand asking for help when you are not well can sometimes be frightening, so we try to make it as simple and stress-free as possible for young people to access our services.

If you are a parent, carer or friend of a young person and would like to refer them to headspace Southport we suggest you talk to them about this idea first and if they agree then contact us on (07) 5509 5900.
If you are a professional and would like to refer a young person to headspace Southport we ask that you fill out our headspace referral form. This information will assist us in getting the young person the right help they need more quickly. Once filled out simply fax it through to us on (07) 5527 1251. Our reception staff will action the referral and send it though to the appropriate staff member.
headspace Southport aims to provide easy access to servicies for young people at no cost and we ensure that we respect your confidentiality.
If you have a valid Australian Medicare Card and a current Mental Health Care Plan, you can have up to 10 sessions in a calendar year with your Allied Health Worker (Clinical/General Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist) bulk-billed through Medicare. Please bring in your Medicare Card. There may be some circumstances that may result in services needed to be be paid for. Where fees apply, you will be advised in advance.
If you are not eligible for an Australian Medicare Card, or do not wish to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan, or if you have used all of your 10 sessions for the year under your Mental Health Care Plan you can be offered the opportunity to pay to see the allied health worker as follows:
-Payments for fee-for-service appointments can be made via EFTPOS (preferred) or CASH (please note we do not keep large quantities of cash on-site and exact money is preferred).
-Fees are aligned to the Medicare Benefits Schedule and are subject to change if the Medicare rate increases.

headspace Youth Early Psychosis Program (hYEPP)
headspace is committed to providing accessible and youth friendly mental health services for young people and their families to get help and specialist support. hYEPP provides specialist mental health treatment services for young people living with complex care issues.
Building on the existing headspace platform is a cost effective and efficient way for government to expand early psychosis and youth mental health services and engage young people earlier. hYEPP aims to provide young people and their families with timely access to specialist support.
SOUTH EAST QLD - Southport and Meadowbrook (Gold Coast to Logan)
Each state and territory have a designated headspace centre delivering this specialist early psychosis service via a ‘hub & spoke’ model. The South East Queensland ‘cluster’ on the Gold Coast and around Logan is delivered in partnership by headspace Southport as the hub (with Lives Lived Well as the Lead Agency) and the new headspace Meadowbrook as the spoke (with Aftercare as the Lead Agency).
In collaboration with Qld Health, our program aims to make sure young people and their families/carers on the Gold Coast get the specialist support they need as early as possible.
MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CLINICAL TEAM
The hYEPP at Southport and Meadowbrook have a specially trained multi-disciplinary workforce to support young people with early psychosis and their families/Carers. The team includes Psychiatrists, Psychologists, GP’s, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Mental Health Nurses, Vocational Guidance Counsellors, Music & Art Therapists and Group work Clinicians as well as a soon to be employed Peer Worker and Youth Participation Coordinator.
Clinicians working in this unique early intervention and prevention service offer ‘assertive outreach’ to young people who are at high risk of developing Early Psychosis or have had a first episode of Early Psychosis. Young people and their families can be seen in their home, at school, work, TAFE or Uni and/or at a local park, café or even the beach!
This program expands Lives Lived Well and the headspace range of services to increase support for young people with early psychosis in every aspect of their lives, including; education, employment, relationships, mental and physical health.
AREA AND HOURS OF SERVICE
The hYEPP team deliver services to young people and their families 7 days per week from 8am to 10pm.
The service covers a large geographical region from the Queensland/NSW border in the south to South Brisbane in the north and the Scenic Rim to the west. We also work in collaboration with the recently opened headspace centre in Tweed Heads.
eheadspace provide an integrated wraparound service for young people and their families registered with our hYEPP. The eheadspace service provides after-hours online and telephone mental health support to young people and their families. hYEPP clinicians communicate with eheadspace staff daily to update them on the current status of young people who may need support after hours.
INCLUSION & EXCLUSION REFERRAL CRITERIA
hYEPP accepts referrals from any source, (including self-referral, family, friends, teachers, counsellors, Doctors, Psychologists and/or Psychiatrists). Young people and their families do not need a special referral to make contact with headspace Southport or hYEPP.
Young people can come direct (or be referred) to hYEPP.

Working collaboratively with schools is a priority for the team at headspace Southport. We would like to compliment the great work that is already being achieved in schools and work with you to continue to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people.
How can we work together to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people?
We support schools in promoting mental health awareness with young people and their families and aim to promote mental wellness, enhance awareness of mental health problems and build young people's capacity to seek help early.
We offer generalised presentations explaining all about headspace, the help we can provide and ways in which we can look after each other. If your school is planning an EXPO or an event which has a youth mental health and well-being focus, we can attend as a stallholder, providing opportunities for students to interact with us. Our stall will include resources about headspace services, other local or national youth mental health resources and when possible, merchandise to give away.
We can also offer more tailored presentations, with specific themes that are delivered as interactive chats and require small class sizes. These presentations require considerable planning and we do not always have capacity to complete them, so please allow plenty of time with your request.
