Parking is available through the use of the shopping centre car park. headspace Lake Haven is located next to the Metro cinemas. Wheelchair access is available through the front door, which has ramp access.
It is a friendly free service for young people aged 12-25 years. No referral required.

headspace Lake Haven is operated by Central Coast Local Health District. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Hunter New England and Central Coast (HNECC LTD).

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation and provides early intervention for young people aged 12-25 years with mild to moderate mental health issues.
headspace Lake Haven is seeking expressions of interest from GPs interested in working part-time to offer primary health care to young people from our Centre in Lake Haven (located adjacent to the Lake Haven Shopping Centre).
headspace Lake Haven has a well-established team of experienced clinicians and offers an exciting opportunity to improve the lives of young people aged 12-25 years; to work as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team, and the opportunity to increase skills and experience in working with adolescents.
- Flexible work days, scheduled around your commitments
- Full practice support including reception, billing and general administrative support
- Support from the multidisciplinary team as well as support from other collocated partners (including Psychologists; Clinical Psychologists; Employment Support; Drug and Alcohol Workers, and Social Workers)
- Paperless practice with IT support
- Ongoing referral base from our General Practitioners onsite of young people who have been assessed by the Youth Access Team and who are ready to receive services
You will need:
- Experience in engaging and building rapport with young people 12-25 years
- Experience in supporting young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems and developing mental health care treatment plans
- To hold all relevant current licenses, registrations and memberships for legal practice as a qualified and registered professional within the state of New South Wales.
- To hold a Medicare Provider Number issued by Medicare Australia and be registered with Medicare
- Be willing to bulk bill.

How to get your own medicare card from 15 years old
Generally, young people can get their own Medicare card by visiting a Medicare office or call Medicare on 13 20 11. This fact sheet and road map explain why young people may need their own Medicare card, and which option and pathway to take for getting their own Medicare card that will suit their needs under difference circumstances.
If you don’t have a Medicare card – we can assist you to apply for one. If you don’t have a current Medicare card, or are not eligible to apply for one - you can still access our youth friendly staff team for assessment and brief intervention and our other co-located partners including: Drug and Alcohol Support; Centrelink; employment and education support; CanTeen and Family Counselling.

What is the Connected Recovery Program?
The CRP provides up to six months of mental health support which includes:
• Case management to help you identify recovery goals and a treatment plan
• Therapeutic counselling and support
• Up to six free counselling sessions without needing a Medicare referral
• Family counselling and consultation sessions
• Support around engaging with school or work
• Support with accessing specialist assessments

We work alongside headspace and the Child & Adolescent Mental Health service to provide you with streamlined support.
Who is included in your recovery?

headspace Lake Haven have a range of presentations on youth mental health topics that can be delivered to students at your school by members of our Youth Access and Community Engagement Teams.
The topics include:
- An introduction to Mental Health
- Tips for a Healthy headspace
- Meet headspace
We can also come along with our "playground pop up shop" at recess or lunchtime, to informally hand out information to students and chat with students that may have questions about our services and their own mental health.
We also have resources including fact sheets, brochures and other collateral we can bring along to hand out to the students.
Once we receive your completed request form, one of our team will make contact with you to discuss your request.
